**adoption pending***Star is a Chinese Crested Powderpuff rescued from an Amish puppy mill. She has spent the past 6 months learning about life outside of a cage, gaining weight and muscle tone. She has a wonderful resilient and fearless personality so she has done remarkably well in her transition to home-life. She has the energy and playfulness of a puppy. She would do best in a home with another dog that loves to play as much as she does! She would also do best with a family that is home a lot. She loves to chew Nylabones, play with toys and run. She has not yet learned to play with people but she loves to cuddle if she is picked up. She has learned to walk on a leash but remains a bit skittish and hypervigilent outside. She is still working on her house training. She is crate trained and sleeps there at night.
Star has a history of severe Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis which can recur. She has been stable since March and should remain stable with proper care. Her vet recommends she take a Probiotic for life. These are not expensive & she loves them like treats! She should eat a high quality food without abrupt changes to her diet. She should be monitored closely for bloody diarrhea and treated promptly by a vet if she has any symptoms. Ironically, this condition is probably what spared this sweet little girl from a life of breeding in the mill! NOTE: Dogs that come from a puppymill may have very different behavior patterns than dogs that have been raised in a home environment!
