Piper bio:
Piper is a 1 year female spayed toy xolo. She is a little over 9 pounds of long legs and high energy. Piper loves her people, and wants to be where you are at all times. Like many xolos, she is shy with strangers, but warmed up quickly to both her foster mom and foster dad. The moment you sit down, Piper will be curled up in your lap.
Piper is great with other dogs and loves the house cat. She does enjoy the sound of her own voice (especially at meal times or when there is a dog on TV) so future adopters should be aware of this. She is very crafty: be ready to stop her leaping into your lap to steal a bite of dinner, or jumping across the backs of the furniture to get to the ball first.
Piper is very active and playful, she loves squeaky toys and balls. She would do great with a canine friend of any size. She is learning to walk politely on a harness. Piper is about 70% percent housebroken. She is excellent in her crate and will not potty in her crate, but she is very good at holding it until she can sneak off to pee.
Piper was surrendered to a rescue, who then transferred her to NakedK9 due to her extremely severe allergies. When Piper first arrived to Nakedk9, she had chewed all four feet until they bled and had bleeding sores and scabs all over her body. Her ears are also permenantly scarred due to her severe head shaking. We have determined Piper has an environmental allergy, and she has responded very well to a prescription allergy medication and her skin is completely healed. It is likely that Piper will need allergy medication for life, or her new family will need to commit to allergy testing and desensitization injections. She is going to be a bit more expensive to her new home than the average dog. Her medication will be about $60 every 4-8 weeks for the cytopoint injection, with the possibility of allergen immunotherapy at some point.
Piper's ideal family wants a smart, active, highly affectionate dog and has plenty of love and one on one attention to give her.
