Envy came to NH after a long ride from NY. She was terrified and it was 2 days before she decided I could touch her/pet her. She was scared and very cautious but not aggressive. Basically just hid around the house or in her crate until she was ready to come out and meet everyone. Once she settled in she slowly came up to us but it was very important that we let her do this at her own pace. Within 1 week she was totally comfortable and fit in perfectly with my crew of 3 small Chinese cresteds and 2 cats.  She previously lived with other dogs too.  Envy now wags her tail all the time and is very happy to greet us when we come home and hang out on the couch with the family. She has been sleeping on my bed and is a good sleeper through the night. Envy is great on the leash – doesn’t pull and seems to stay right next to me. She is pee pad trained and seems to prefer that when the weather is cold (it’s been below freezing here for weeks) Envy got her nails trimmed at Petco – they said she was nervous but did well. She had a UTI when she arrived but it cleared up within a few days of being on antibiotics . She is fine being left out in the house when we are not home. She is not a chewer and is happy to  just  nap on the couch. Envy does not have many teeth (there are a few in the back but I can’t see many   and definitely no canine teeth) I have been feeding her a mix of homemade wet food (ground chicken and veggies and Orijen dry dog food. She is a good eater and also can eat her food next to the 3 other dogs with no issues.  She is gentle taking treats from your hand.

Envy would do well as an only dog or with dogs that are more laid back – she is not high energy and may not w ant to be bothered all the time.  Envy really is a sweet dog who will bond strongly with her owners. She follows me around the house and wants to be right next to me on the couch or in bed. She is a cuddle bug.

Adopter must accept that it takes Envy a day or two to be comfortable. They cannot expect to be instant friends but it won’t be long before they are best friends.    They also should know that Envy will bark at strangers who come to the house at first. She can go in a crate or be introduced slowly to new people.
