Do you like the idea of being lavished with kisses from a sweet, adorable little furball puppy? If so, then Gidget is perfect for you! While in rescue this little lady has blossomed into a loving, wiggly Velcro-pup that adores her people more than anything!

Gidget recently had her spay surgery and finished her final round of shots, so she is in tip-top shape medically. She is 100% crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night in her foster mom’s room in a crate. She is learning how to use wee pads and is working hard on potty training, but she has not mastered it yet. Gidget has started going for walks on leash and is doing great, greeting people and sniffing the good smells along the way. She loves playing with her stuffed toys and mini Nylabones, is working on “sit,” and has been excellent around any children (from age 20 months to 13) and other dogs she has met. She has never met a cat.

Gidget was very fearful when she first entered rescue, but now she is more like “reserved” when meeting new people. To help her reach her maximum puppy potential, a new adopter would ideally continue taking Gidget out into the world (like with trips to the pet store) to meet new people and other doggies so she can continue to build her confidence.

Like most any puppy, Gidget is happiest being with her people, and she goes bananas with excitement when you come home to see her—even if you’ve only been gone for 2 minutes! She is generally a pretty quiet, calm puppy, but when it’s time for you to come home (and sometimes when you leave), she will howl and scream like a banshee (and probably with time and training this behavior can be worked on), so she’s probably not the best little doggie for someone who lives in an apartment or condo.

Since she’s so young, for her safety (and the safety of your carpeting, walls, shoes, etc…) it’s best to keep Gidget crated when you have to leave her alone for a few hours—she is used to being crated and will go in herself as long as there’s a tasty treat waiting inside. She has proven to be quite the little Houdini in foster care and has broken out of two different types of crates—but no fear, we can show you how to “Gidget-proof” your crate if you’re lucky enough to adopt her!
