Charley is the best boy! We were told from his surrendering family (who adored Charley but had a change of living circumstances and could no longer keep him) that he is a purebred Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and he definitely looks it, but we do not have any registration paperwork to prove this. At 26 pounds, Charley is on the large size for a Cavalier, and he could stand to lose a couple of pounds (not judging, just saying), and would benefit from an adopter who is committed to taking him on a couple of nice walks each day. He is not a dainty little purse dog, either; Charley is strong and can pull hard on the leash if there’s something he’s really interested in checking out, but he has gotten a bit better by wearing a harness on his walks. He is working on his leash training, and is as sweet as pie and eager to learn, but he still needs improvement in this area.
Charley is crate and housetrained, but when he arrived at his foster home he wanted to mark his territory a bit, so he wore a belly band for about a week (and did not soil it when wearing it) and is now completely trusted inside the house.
His temperament is a DREAM…so far he seems to love all people, kids, and dogs alike. He is as sweet a dog as you could imagine. He absolutely adores affection and attention, and will probably take as much of it as you are willing to give. He loves food the same way, and he would take more of it than he should probably have (even though he’s so cute it’s hard to resist him), and so he needs to be watched when there are plates of food on the dinner table or bowls of other dog’s food out. He will snag any morsel he can get.
Other than that, Charley is an all-around fabulous dog that deserves and equally fabulous owner.
