Adoption pending*** Alfie is a delightful little snuggle buddy. He loves to be rubbed & especially likes butt scratches. He will smile when you get the right place! He likes toys & nylabones and will entertain himself when his people are busy. Alfie loves to play with other dogs.  He also loves to look out of the window & watch all the goings-on. He will bark when he sees someone coming. When there is a lot of activity outside the window he can get over-stimulated so I have had to close the blinds on occasion. He loves to go outside. He will spin by the door when he wants to go out. He is not put off by the cold weather. He bravely goes out & does what he needs to do. He loves going for walks. I use a harness for him as he seems to be very prone to coughing & gagging when he pulls against a collar. He is crate trained and sleeps there at night with his blankie. He loves to burrow in blankets and frequently emerges from his crate in the morning draped in a blanket or wearing his bed on his back. I have not let him sleep in the bed but I know he would not have any objection to this! At bedtime, he has a self-calming habit. He likes to knead things with his teeth. He makes a little clicking sound while he does this until he relaxes and goes to sleep. I have given him a small blanket to use for this because he does make small holes. He is pretty good about using his blankie but on occasion he will try to chew his sleeves (sleeveless jammies work the best for him), a collar or his harness (he seems to love the nylon webbing). I tell him 'no' and substitute his blanket. His blankie will go to his new home with him to make the transition easier.  He needs to go to a home where the terrier personality is understood & respected. He does have a typical terrier prey drive & needs to be in a home without other small prey type animals. He can be territorial of his home, his people & the car when he is riding in it. He is very sensitive to body language and he is very reactive when the body language is confusing or aggressive. Children make him very nervous. For this reason, I do not want him in a home where children are present or frequently visit.(alfie is being fostered in MI)
