Adorable, extremely loving and affectionate, Rufus was tearfully surrendered by his owner when he got a military assignment out of the country. Rufus has clearly been a well-loved pet, and it shows in his demeanor, appearance, temperament and behavior. Rufus’ number one priority is being with his people, followed closely by a treat of any kind—he will do a heart-melting little ‘tap dance’ on the floor with his paws whenever it’s time to eat or a bag of treats is opened. He also has the waggiest tail ever! He could power a small engine with it…if he’s awake, chances are good that his tail is wagging.

Rufus is leash trained and walks beautifully outside, although he does not enjoy the rain and would much prefer to stay inside when it’s wet (but who wouldn’t?). He has been friendly so far to every other dog and person he meets, including two small children who live next door. Rufus currently lives with a French Bulldog, and they get along like peas and carrots, although Rufus does not engage in play with the bulldog -- he is much more content to sit next to his person or snooze in a comfy spot. 

His exact age is unknown, but I would estimate Rufus to be around 8 years young. He can still be extremely playful, goofy and spry, but is a little more mellow on an all-around basis. He has surprised me a couple of times with his quickness, though – especially if it’s time to get a treat! 

Rufus LOVES his big doggie bed that came from his previous owner, and is content to snuggle up in it all through the night. Once he’s in bed, he’s good to go until morning. He is generally quiet, and will only really bark to alert that someone’s outside. He also loves to roll around in the grass and sun himself, and is generally a happy, go-lucky little guy.
