Maribel

LUCY & Maribel: Back in August of 2015 I was at a friends house and we decided to look up Chinese Cresteds on the internet. They have always caught my eye for some reason so I decided to check them out, I had to put my Jack Russell (Ripley) down in March of 2015 and wasn't really looking to get a dog at that time , My heart was still broke and didn't know if I wanted to set myself up for another heart break. I decided to check them out anyways and see what they say about the breed. We read a few articles about Chinese crested and decided to check out a few rescue sites. I found Naked K9's website and proceeded to check out their available dogs. It was then that I fell in love with Lucy. The minute I saw her picture I knew she was ment to be with me. It was love at first sight. I proceeded to check out the rest of the dogs but my heart kept going back to Lucy. I couldn't get her out of my mind. I didn't sleep that night because I couldn't quit thinking about her. The next day is when I decide that I had to try to adopt her. I filled the application out and went through the process of adopting her. I felt like I won a million bucks when they notified me that she was mine. My eyes filled with tears and my heart with love. Little did I know the only way to heal my broken heart was to give it something to love again. Lucy did that for me. She was being fostered in Alabama so I asked my sister if she was up for a road trip and lucky for me she was. We picked Lucy up at the end of August and brought her back to Michigan. She was a complete angel the whole way back. I got her home and it has felt like she was ment to be here the whole time. She adjusted very well and my journey with Chinese crested's began. I was amazed at how soft and loving she was. She just jumped in my lap and layed her head on my chest and I could just feel my heart melting. I was hooked. A month went by and everything was going well but I could tell that Lucy was lonely when I left her alone so I decided to check into maybe getting her a buddy. That's when I came across Maribel. I went back to Naked K9's website because I was impressed with how they handled Lucy's adoption and I trusted them, it was there that I saw Maribel's picture. Maribel wasn't even officially on their website yet. There was just her picture saying " coming soon " again it was love at first sight so I inquired about her. They thought that she would be a great match so I went throught the process of adopting her. Maribel was being fosterd in Texas but Naked K9 was gracious enough to get her to Indiana for me. Maribel was a little more cautious at first not as trusting as Lucy was but everyday she trusted me a little bit more and by the end of the week ypu could tell that she new she was home. Lucy and Maribel have gotten along from the beginning. It's almost like they were sisters. They are either sitting on each other or laying next to each other. They are perfect for each other and for me. Maribel has come so far from what her Foster mom Becky told me about her. She makes me play with her every day and is constantly by my side. Lucy and Maribel are the most loving dogs that I have ever had and from what I understand most Chinese Crested's are the same way. Im hooked on my hairless babies and the three of us are so thankful to Naked K9 and the people that foster their dogs. Lucy and I would like to say a special thank you to her foster mom Renee for giving Lucy a safe home until I could find her. We are forever grateful to you. Maribel and I would like to thank her foster mom Becky for also giving Maribel a safe and loving home. We are forever grateful to you. I don't even want to think what would have happened to these guys had you two women not been there to give them a home. Becky and Renee and all the people that work at Naked K9 are truly angels that walk on earth and the earth is a much better place because of you guys. THANK YOU SO VERY VERY MUCH for all that you do. Cindy, Maribel,Lucy

Minnie

We are so happy to have Minnie in our family! She's such a loving girl. She never lets a lap go to waste, and will make sure she spends time with everyone. She gives the best "hugs," too! When she sits on your lap and leans all the way against you, resting her head on your chest or shoulder, you know you're getting a Minnie Hug (photo #2). She loves going to visit her grandma and grandpa, and she gets so excited when she gets there, she just has to dance around! Minnie's the best. We're glad she decided to keep us!

They were known there as the Hooligan Brothers and were often a subject in her blog due to their naughtiness. When I picked them up, Joey growled at me the whole way home and Marley curled up, too scared to move. It took them awhile to settle in. They are both extremely shy and fearful dogs. Joey shows his fear by growling and Marley will not let a stranger near him. After a while I found that the real Hooligan was Marley who has written on my couch several times with ink pens and unzipped my purse to steal things ( he has a mischievous streak). Joey really is a very well behaved boy but does like to grumble at strangers. (Watch for part 2 of the Hooligan Brother's story this afternoon at 1pm to hear about life after adoption!) Part 2: Joey & Marley, the Hooligan Brothers, continued After having Joey & Marley for awhile, I fell in love with Joey. He is such a clown and so full of life he is irresistible. He did have a failed adoption before he came to live with me since he is not good with strangers. After 3 months I decided that I couldn't imagine life without my Joey Big Ears. I adopted him on 2/2/13. He has come a long way and is currently attending rally obedience class. He will now let a stranger feed him treats but he is not ok with them petting him. I also adopted Marley on 5/5/13. He is even more shy than his brother Joey. It actually took my mom (who comes over 5 days per week) over 2 years to be able to pet him. Most homes don't want a dog that is so shy so I decided Marley would be happiest here. He is an amazing dog, just very scared of the unknown. He is still very naughty but you have to laugh because he is so cute. Unfortunately in rescue we often get dogs that were not properly socialized as puppies. It is a terrible thing for these dogs and many have trouble working through these issues. It may seem great to have a 1 person dog but it isn't good for your dog. Please take the time to socialize your puppies. I am so glad to be able to give Joey and Marley their forever home. My life wouldn't be complete without them!

Mya

Mya's little family is just smitten with her!

Minnie

This little girl was picked up as a stray and spent 3 weeks at animal control where she was frightened and labeled a "biter". We were not surprised to find that Minnie was a very sweet girl that loves to snuggle. Here she is in her new home that she shares with several cats, a Powder Puff Chinese Crested and a Chihuahua. She is finally home!
